Special Vessels – a combination of the offshore-type Safety Case studies and the bow tie methodology using Active Bow Tie software has been applied within   the Safety Cases developed for heavy lift and transport vessels, and resulting in the integrated Safety Management System (iSMS).  The iSMS has recently generated considerable interest in other industries. Recently completed the Safety Assurance of the Transport of an old nuclear submarine involved bow tie analysis, quantitative risk analysis and demonstration that risk had been reduced to a level which is as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP).
